About Us
Ca Merlo is a lovely accomodation not far from the fascinated Basilica of Tirano and the Railway station of the famous Bernina express.
Ca Merlo has 2 apartments (CA MERLO RED and CA MERLO BLUE) located on the ground floor of a big stone house and a bed & breakfast (CA MERLO DELUXE) in the first floor, both have an independent entrance and an outdoor car parking.
The house is surrounded by a large garden where it’s possible to have breakfast in summer, the hedge makes the garden quiet and private.
A wonderful cherry tree will provide you with an afternoon snack in May, and flowers and plants, my mother’s hobby, will make your staying more pleasant.
On sunny days in Summer you can sunbathe in the “solarium” where you can find some sunbeds, a big umbrella and a lawn swing.
You will relax for sure!
You won’t miss the company of many animals: fishes and turtels in the pond, Zagor e Zoe, the two house dogs.
Cà Merlo is the ideal place for those who love animals and would like to take their dog with them on holiday.

Dear guests,
I will be glad to welcome you at Ca 'Merlo approximately from 18.00 to 19.30 hours .
I will show "your" house, I'll give you the key and all information you need.
At home you find also all brochures that will make your holiday complete and more interesting.
If you are going to arrive in other different times you can call me for an agreement.
On the day of your departure it will be appropriate to leave the room before 10.00.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Ca 'Merlo is a "must".
After your arrival you will receive a questionnaire where you can indicate your breakfast menu.
Something of your breakfast is into the coapbords (cafè,thee...) or on the table (different jam, nutella, honey...)
In the morning I'll put other thins you've chosen for your breakfast into a nice basket at the entrance.
The products are mostly locally produced and breakfast will become a the first meeting with the rich gastronomy of Valtellina.
... and for those who want it is possible to ask for gluten-free products!
During Spring and Summer you can have breakfast also outside in the garden.

Tirano cittaslow - citta del vino - full day tour
The best way to discover the history of Tirano is walking aroud the fifteenth century walls of the town, built by Ludovico the "Moro". Really nice is the panorama from the top of the Castle Santa Maria while the Basilica of Madonna di Tirano is unforgettable.
If you prefer you can chose to visit only the church (the tour takes just 1 hour) or the old town (2 h)
From the vineyards to the wine - full day tour
Valtellina is very famous also because of its 250 km of dry stone walls and its vineyards. The tour I suggest you wants to honor the wine of my country and includes a walk through the vineyards. The tour can also include wine tasting at a winery or a cellar.
Walking through the quarters - half day visit
You can ask for a nice walk in the village of Villa di Tirano to discover its historic districts.
Biketour along the Valtellina Trail - full day
If you love sport and bikes you can come whith me along the Valtellina Path and visit many villagese,curches, palaces, castles ....

Bernina Express
During your holiday in Valtellina you can not miss an enchanting journey on the Bernina Express, the famous red train of Bernina that starts in Tirano ,and connects the Valtellina to Saint Moritz through the Valley of Poschiavo and the Bernina Pass (2253 msl) following a path that is considered one of the most interesting heritage in the world because of its beauty and the boldness of the track.
In two and a half hour the train combines the cool beauty of the mountai with the warm charm of italy, mixing truly impressive natural landscapes with the rich millenial cultural history of the Grisons/Graubunden region. It is a journey that I suggest during every season: the viaduct of Brusio, the Lake of Poschiavo, Alp Grum, the imposing Morteratsch glacier and the Bernina summit,and then the eternal pearl Engadine, St. Moritz.
The Running along 122 km of track, passing through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges and viaducts, the line followed by the Bernina Express is a mastrepiece of engineering skills.
Its combination with the surrounding landscape is what constitutes its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage. www.rhb.it
