Teglio

Teglio is a beautiful resort located on the sunny slopes of the mountain,between Sondrio and Tirano.
Certainly it is the undisputed capital of the tipical dish of Valtellina, Pizzoccheri.
In the past the village was famous because of its agricultural economy based on the production of buckwheat that is tha main ingredient of poor peasant cuisine (pizzoccheri, sciatt and polenta).

Not only food, but also an intense production of DOCG wines , grown in the vineyards below and called Valtellina Superiore Valgella.

In addition to the gastronomy, Teglio offers to tourists historical and cultural tours to visit for example the Besta Palace , a unique stately residence in the Renaissance style,that is now a property of the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage and Landscape of the Lombardy region. Inside, there is now the Antiquarium Tellinum that collects evidence of civilization and remote art of Valtellina.

During your walk do not forget the Tower of beli miri , many other palaces and churches of San Martino (XIV century), Santo Stefano (XV century),Sant’Eufemia (XV century).

Even sports fans can take delight in hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in winter, starting the excurtion from the terrace of Prato Valentino ,that is full of pastures as well as being a scenic spot of great interest.
